When having my 2024 4Runner serviced at the dealership, I mentioned to the service adviser how sluggish it was at times and he recommended that I get a Pedal Commander. Within a few days of ordering the product arrived and i was excited to start the installation which was easy and only took a few minutes. I do recommend that you disconnect the negative terminal of the battery prior to doing any work and use a pair of electrical disconnect pliers to help remove the pigtail from the gas pedal. I settled on the City mode + 2. If you want to wake up your ride I highly recommend the Pedal Commander!

Took the lag completely out of my 2024 Toyota 4Runner. Much better throttle response. Wakes the truck up nicely, without breaking the bank. I’ve used this on my 2015 Tacoma and it worked wonders. To all those who say dumb shit like “it doesn’t make the truck faster” or “just press the throttle down more” you have no idea how this actually works. It speeds up the throttle blade opening by showing it more voltage. It’s actually crisper than just holding down the throttle. I have something similar on my C8 corvette.

Seems to be working well. MPH has increased by 2 in city mode. One complaint and I keep seeing it is the Velcro. It is very cheap Velcro. If they plan to sell to people who use it in hot areas of the country supply extremely Velcro. May cost them .50 more but for a $300 unit that’s a small price. Contacted customer service and they keep saying buy more Velcro from us. If the supplied ones failed in a few hours why buy the and again!!!

I am 71 and apparently didn't have the finger strength to depress the locking clip on the accelorator plug enough to release the plug. I even bought some electrical plug plyers but you can't get them into position to use them so don't waste your money on those. I had a friend who is about 20 years younger come by and disconnect the plug for me. After that, installation was a snap. I have found that you can change the settings while driving if you wait to fo it while you are stopped and your foot isn't on the accelorator. The change is instantanious. Before the Pedal Commander was installed, I was getting about 16 MPG on my 2019 4Runner. I have found that I like City +3 best for my driving style but my MPG went down to about 14. I bumped the setting back to City +2 and I am back to about 16 MPG. Your driving style will effect this more than anything. With the inproved response on the throttle you will have to retrain your foot so you aren't goosing it every time you want to go. In short time, you will get used to that and everything will smooth out again. I highly recommend the Pedal Commander and what it can do to your ride.

Ok, I love this thing...I came from driving a Ford Explorer Sport with the twin turbo v6, and knew that the 4Runner would definitely not be in the same ballpark for performance. Now that I have the Pedal Commander, I really enjoy driving the 4Runner again...it's actually quite punchy on the low side, but the stock drive by wire program is watered down (most likely for fuel mileage). I run the Sport (not Sport +) with a plus 2 on the controller and love it. Feels more like a drive by cable rig now that actually responds when you give it some gas!

This is my 2nd Pedal Commander for my 2nd 4Runner. I like everything about it except the tape that is provided to stick the unit harness to the vehicle separated less than a day after mounting the unit to the lower pedal side area. I even cleaned area with cloth provided. I’ve stuck it back up 3-4 times but it still comes off. I’d like PC to send out a more permanent alternative to the 3 sided tape they provide.

Saw an ad for Pedal Commander online. Clicked on the link and went to their website. Watched a few videos of people using is, and one about installing it. Was a bit skeptical about how easy they claimed the install was but bought it anyway. The install was much easier than I expected. Literally, 10 minutes from downloading the app, plugging it in to the throttle link and driving. Performance enhancement was way beyond my expectations. If you are tired of stepping on the gas and waiting for the engine to react, this will amaze you. Worth every penny!

I put 285/70r17 tires on my 4Runner. Ever since, the truck has felt slow and sluggish. The pedal commander has been great in making the truck fun to drive again. I prefer driving Sport mode on 0. I notice a big difference on acceleration, maintaining speed on hills and was actually surprised to see a slight increase in mpg. I would definitely recommend this product.

So, I was skeptical on this product at first. Watched some videos that discussed how great it was. While others bashed it to promote another similar product. Not an uncommon practice when it comes to individuals being paid to promote certain brands.
But, I was willing to try it to see if my 4Runner could get a little more responsiveness out of the throttle. And let me tell ya, night and day difference. If you’re on the fence and own a vehicle that you feel should have a little more go when you press the gas. The pedal commander does just that.
I keep mine on sport 2 and it has changed the way I see my 4Runner. You won’t be disappointed. Just know if you stomp on it you’ll get awful fuel mileage. So, don’t buy it to be a speed racer.

All the research conducted appeared to recommend the purchase for the 4 Runner.
Unfortunately, our 2024 4 Runner is brand new with a extended 10 year bumper to bumper warranty.
We elected to not install the unit and are in the process of getting a refund. Valuable research reveals some dealerships will void the warrant and cause long term issues for the purchaser even though the Pedal Commander does not flash or change the vehicle code.
While I was excited to have improved pedal response, I could not risk losing the warranty.
I am losing the cost of the initial shipping and the return shipping along with some other fees but I am retaining the warranty without risk that the dealership will void my warranty.

This product is great! It does what it says it will do. I've gotten almost 20mpg in Eco but leave it in City most of the time. Sport and Sport+ is a little much in driveways or parking lots but fun on long stretches. I really like the performance and would have given it a 5 Star rating just based on that but I gave it 4 as I would like to have much brighter LED lights indicating which mode I'm already in or want to switch to. Very easy install. Highly recommend!

This truly is the main thing any 4Runner owner needs! With my 2022 TRD Sport I also have an HPS air intake system and soon will be purchasing a Borla Touring cat back system to complete all you need for the 4Runner none of these items will trigger a light or void your warranty and the all three together can and will increase your mileage (if you can keep your foot away from the floor) and performance!!! I went through all the modes to see the difference, and my first word not words is WOW. It's hard to explain without being in the vehicle but the Pedal Commander sure does change how my 4Runner moves. I had to go on a eighty mile trip and decided to go in economy even though a majority was city driving. I reset the mileage to see what I would get after reading that I would supposedly see up to a 20% gain in miles per gallon. Well for this trip between city and highway and ended up at 21.7, when I reset the mileage before the trip I was at 18.
Lastly, I do have to say when moving through the modes you see a huge change, I went from city to economy and it was like I all of a sudden felt like I was pulling a sled on concrete, LOL. I'm not complaining just explaining how I saw the Pedal Commander works.

If you have a 4Runner, you absolutely need this.
My wife drives a jeep jku which I thought was a slow tank until I picked up a 22 4Runner. This will put the pep back into your throttle.
My dealership said I should have no trouble with the pedal commander and any warranty as they have not experienced any codes being thrown because of it. The installation was pretty simple. Unless you are a bigger guy like myself and can’t contort your body down under your driver dash and get your fat fingers to release the plug. The second problem was deciding where to mount the unit.
I wish the cord was routed from the bottom of the box allowing an easier direction of left and right instead from the side.
If you are worried about gas mileage loss, I am driving a gas hog 4Runner and any improvement in acceleration is worth the very minimal loss at the line.
