WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there’s a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this, as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. This entire process introduces a delay known as throttle lag. Additionally, manufacturers deliberately include this delay to make the vehicle suitable for a wide range of drivers.

Some may require such precautions, but the delay can become frustrating in certain situations. Pedal Commander® is the simplest and most effective solution for Mercedes E Class drivers who want instant power.

HOW DOES PEDAL COMMANDER® IMPROVE YOUR CAR?

Modern vehicles have electronic throttle systems, which are completely controlled by the vehicle’s ECU. Contrary to the old cable throttle systems, the throttle valve’s opening speed and how much it opens are regulated by the manufacturer’s preset values. All of this process and electronic control cause a lag in the initial throttle response, called throttle delay.

The Pedal Commander® throttle response controller modifies the signal from the throttle position sensor so the valve opens up completely and changes the speed at which it operates. Then, the modified signal gets transmitted to the ECU, eliminating the unwelcome throttle lag. Pedal Commander® also allows you to customise your Mercedes E Class’s throttle response with its four driving modes, each with nine increments.

The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:

Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.

Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.

Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.

After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.

I have the coupe (c207 chassis code) and it works without any complications. The pedal commander for my Mercedes E 350 sport added tremendous starting power off the blocks, at the sport plus level. I was thinking of trading in and buying an another Mercedes with more horsepower than my 302 hp Mercedes, but now I do not need to. I recommend The pedal commander to anybody who wants to instantly improve your acceleration from 0 to 60mph.

This is my third Pedal Commander. I installed it on my unmodified 2006 Mercedes E55 AMG sedan which is a fantastic vehicle even at 18 years old. This is a genius performance upgrade product. You can spend thousands of dollars doing all kinds of upgrades to your ride but dollar for dollar this is far and away the best. It only takes 20 minutes to install and most of that time is getting the plug disconnected from your accelerator pedal so as not to break it. Then route the cable to where you want to place your unit that is about the size of a hotel bar of soap. What is great is that you can decide not use it if you like and then turn it on to your favorite of the 36 modes when you want. There is Economy mode which I haven't tried as yet but it's supposed to save you perhaps 20% on fuel. I will eventually try that mode but I didn't buy this Performance upgrade to save fuel or reduce my "Carbon Contact Patches". My preference is Sport Mode number 2, 3, or 4. Sport+ is hairy to say the least but it is fun to try it out. I will eventually purchase another one for my modified 2006 E55 AMG wagon to see what this will do to this already beastly vehicle. CO2 be damned!!!!
