WHAT IS THROTTLE LAG?

When you first press down on the accelerator, there’s a delay before anything actually happens. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) systems cause this, as they take the signal from the accelerator pedal and send it to the vehicle’s ECU. This entire process introduces a delay known as throttle lag. Additionally, manufacturers deliberately include this delay to make the vehicle suitable for a wide range of drivers.

Contrary to the old cable throttle systems, the throttle valve’s opening speed and how much it opens are regulated by the manufacturer’s preset values.     The basic steps of the Pedal Commander® installation are always the same regardless of the vehicle's make and model:
  • Turn off the ignition and wait 10-15 minutes with your driver's door open to allow your ECU to shut down.
  • Disconnect your accelerator pedal assembly plug, then plug in the heads to connectors on the Pedal Commander® harness.
  • Clean up the area where you want to mount the control unit with the alcohol wipe. Stick the bracket with the supplied velcro.
  • After you make sure the cables are secure and won't be tangled, you are ready to enjoy Pedal Commander®.
